Integrate Fast Simon with Tapcart
Step 1: Install Fast Simon for Shopify from https://apps.shopify.com/instant-search.
Step 2: Make sure you do not select any of the main capabilities during the install wizard
Step 3: Ensure you have the Tapcart integration swtiched on in the Fast Simon dashboard. This will send your details to Tapcart.
Step 4: Ensure you have Smart Collection switched on:
Step 5: Plug in the Fast Simon UUID and Domain into the Tapcart dashboard.
Step 1: Decide which data you would like to sync in Settings>Sync Options. You may add Shopify metafields and variant options like “color.”
Step 2: Review the features in the Search Results tab. As a reminder, Fast Simon only supports backend services for Tapcart, not frontend.
Search Results>Configuration Sort options
Search Results>Advanced Configuration you can set up how your searches will operate with the following settings:
Results matching ANY search terms instead of ALL: Uncheck if you show products matching all of the search query terms. Recommended setting is to show ANY search term as shoppers frequently use different keywords; also Fast Simon will rank higher if there are multiple keyword matches
Prefix-Match Product Results: Check this option if you would like users to find for example SKUs that start with the same sequence but vary by their suffix. Notice that this might present users non ideal results due to the fact that only the prefix is matched - e.g. "cat" will present users cat results but also caterpillar etc.
Broad Singular-Plural Match: Check this option if you would like users to get the same results for singular and plural search queries.
Search Source Importance: Check this option if you would like to set a custom order of importance for the indexed sync data. Setting a specific source above another is necessary if the same keywords are found in both sources and you would like to control the ranking of results.
Out of Stock Products: Choose whether you would like to hide, show, or show after products are in stock for search.
Search Results>Synonyms & Antonyms Synonyms allow search terms to pull in additional relevant content. You may set up multi-directional synonyms where commas will separate the words that have the same meaning (ex. jacket, coat, sherpa). You may also set up one-directional synonyms which will work in one-directional but not the other (ex. jacket>sherpa will pull in all sherpas for the ‘jacket’ search but will not pull in all jackets for the ‘sherpa’ search).
Antonyms allow for the search results to be narrowed out of a search. As with synonyms, you may also set up one-directional (ex. dress, dress shoe) and multi-directional antonyms (gowns>dresses).
Hide or show specific collections from filters by checking and unchecking the boxes.
Out of Stock Products: Choose whether you would like to hide, show, or show after products are in stock for collections.
Upon first integrating with Fast Simon, we pull in the standard filter values (price, color, size, category). Then, you have the option to include any additional filters that you would like to display. If you already use Fast Simon for search or collections, Tapcart will follow the same filter setup you have made in Filters>Filter Configuration. Any changes made to this section will be applied to both your desktop and Tapcart.
If you are only using Fast Simon for Tapcart, below are steps to setting up additional filters:
Option 1: For Shopify users, in Filter>Filter Configuration you may create tag-based filters that will pull in the filter values from the products tags. You have two options; add the prefix for this tag- which will pull in all of the values attached to it in Shopify. Below is how you would set this up in our dashboard:

Then, all you have to do is hide the prefix in Filters>Filter Settings>Avoid Prefixes:
Option 2: If you do not have prefix based tags, you may all go ahead and pull in the actual values for this filter:
Option 3: Shopify/BigCommerce/Other Platforms:
You may create keyword based filters that will pull in the values from the product’s title and/or description.
Depending on your platform, you may use a variation of each filter option for your filter setup. All of your searches and collections will follow this filter format. However, if you would like a specific collection to have its own set of unique filters, you may do so in Filters>Collection Filters.
Step 1: Click “Add”
Step 2: Choose the collection you would like to have a special set of filters for.
Step 3: Click on the ‘Filters’ tab and with the eye icon you may hide existing filters. In the “Hidden Filters” group below, you may click the eye icon which will unhide any filters for this specific collection and pull it into this collection.
Filter>Filter Settings Configure how you would like the filters to be displayed.
All merchandising configurations in Fast Simon will be reflected on the app
This includes: Search Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Rule Based Merchandising, Collection Merchandising, and Merchandising Strategies.
Currently, Tapcart doesn't bring the collection data from Fast Simon when it is first loaded, only when sort or filters are selected.
If you would like to have the product assortment in merchandising rules and visual merchandising to be reflected in Tapcart, you may have the configurations pushed to Shopify with two options.
- Switch on “Push Category Sort Order To Shopify” which will automatically push the order of products to Shopify once a day.
- Choose the “Save and Push to Shopify” option in the Merchandising editor.
Merchandising>Search Merchandising - Promote, bury or hide products in the search results page and in Autocomplete. Add the search term you would like to merchandise. Then click on the “Editor” tab to configure.
Merchandising>Merchandising Campaigns - Similar to Search Merchandising, you may promote, bury or hide products in collections/categories. Add the collection you would like to merchandise. Then click on the “Editor” tab to configure.
Merchandising>Product Merchandising - Control specific products in the autocomplete drop-down and on the search results page.
Merchandising>Merchandising Rules - Choose collections, attributes, tags, sales and inventory levels to be promoted (on a scale of 1-100 with 100 being promoted to the top), buried or hidden.
Merchandising Strategies - Optimize collections and search with general ranking strategy based on three different approaches:
Option 1: Varietize the selected search and collection pages based on a specific attribute. In this example, the page is varieties based on color- therefore no two products with the same color will be next to each other on the page.
Option 2: Group products based on a specific attribute. In this example, the page is grouped by color in groups of 4.
Option 3: Mix popular products with high-margin products.
